COURSE DESCRIPTION

課程簡介

Pastoral Ministry is a study of pastoral ministry with an emphasis on the understanding and nature of pastoral work and pastoral care within the local church setting. Topics include: the basis of pastoral ministry, the tasks of pastoral ministry, and the concerns of pastoral ministry.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon the successful completion of this course the student should have:

  1. A well-rounded understanding of pastoral ministry.
  2. Conceptual knowledge of pastoral care in multiple arenas.
  3. Enhanced skills related to the pastoral task.
  4. Development of ministry desire, aptitude, and competency.
  5. Increased knowledge and practice in developing a lifelong learning orientation to ministry.

The student will be exposed to the following basic subject areas:

GRADING AND ASSIGNMENTS

Over the course of the semester, the following evaluation exercises will be used to determine the level of mastery of course content achieved by each class participant: 在整個學期中，將使用以下評估練習來確定每位課程參與者對課程內容的掌握程度：

Using the BFM comparison chart, compare the three SBC editions of the BFM statement. Write a 3-page reflection reviewing the most significant changes that have been made among the three editions. Students will submit a 1-page single-spaced order of service for each of the following four services. Students will submit a 2-page paper for each of the ordinances. Each paper will describe the student’s theological and practical understanding, ministry experience, and anticipation of issues in ministry for both Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. 學生將針對每項禮儀提交一份兩頁的論文。每篇論文將描述學生對水禮和主餐的神學和實踐理解、事工經驗以及對事工中問題的預期。

  1. Pastoral Interviews 牧養訪談（10%）

Students will develop a ten-question survey and conduct that survey with three different pastors. Students will submit a report of the three interviews, including: the 10 questions; a summary of each pastor’s answer; and a reflection on each interview. LECTURES AND ASSIGNMENTS

This course will span 3 weeks. Students set aside 12 hours for themselves each week to watch recorded lectures and participate in online exercises.  There will be weekly open-book quizzes as well as open-book midterm and final examinations. There will be 3 hours of Zoom meetings per week.
